DOCUMENTS IN CASE CAPITAL GAINS INCOME

You are required to mention the details of long term or short term capital gain, whichever applicable while filing your ITR. It is important to mention the long-term capital gains even if it is not taxable for equity mutual funds and shares.

1. For land/building – Sales & Purchase deeds, stamp duty valuation

2. Documents for the cost of an improvement on the property (if improvement is made)

3. For securities – Contract notes/stock ledgers/trading statement

4. For other capital assets – Cost of purchase, cost of improvement & sales receipts

5. Details of expenses incurred on transfer of capital assets

6. Re-investment purchase deed for claiming exemption from Capital Gains

7. Capital gains deposit account details if any

1. Bank statement/passbook for interest on savings account.

3. Interest income statement for fixed deposits or Recurring deposits

6. Registration Certificate obtained under earlier Tax laws.

7. Proof of appointment of authorized signatory and their personal details.

8. Proof of principal place of business:-

(i) For Own premisesAny document in support of the ownership of the premises like latest Property Tax Receipt or Municipal Khata copy or copy of Electricity Bill.
(ii) For Rented or Leased PremisesA copy of the valid rent agreement with any document in support of the ownership of the premises of the Lessor like Latest Property Tax Receipt or Municipal Khata copy or copy of Electricity Bill. If rent agreement or lease deed is not available, then an affidavit to that effect along with any document in support of the possession of the premises like copy of electricity bill is acceptable
9. Opening page of Bank statement held in name of Business or Proprietor/Cancelled Cheque
